The Pioneer 1 League is AYRA's introductory baseball league. It is specifically designed to slowly introduce the most fundamental concepts of the game of baseball - throwing, fielding, and batting a ball. Children aged 5 and 6 years old may participate in this league. The most important focus of Pioneer 1 is safety and fun.
A player participating in Pioneer 1 can expect to be on a team that numbers 7 to 10 players. In this league, there is no catcher and the position of pitcher is optional. Regardless of the number of players on the team, all players play the field every inning. Coaches pitch to the players, but players cannot strike out. If the player swings and misses three times, the ball is set on a hitting tee for the batter to hit. Every player bats every inning with the last batter in the lineup hitting a homerun.
