The International League is AYRA's first competitive baseball league. It is specifically designed to get players comfortable with playing a genuine game of baseball. Fundamentals are stressed, but more advanced skills are also introduced. Children aged 9 and 10 years old may participate in this league. The most important focus of the International League is learning the complete game of baseball and fun.
A player participating in the International League can expect to be on a team that numbers 10 to 12 players. This is the first league where players are exposed to pitching from other players. Players can strike out in this league and opposing pitchers are actively trying to do this. There are walks. This is the first league where players can steal bases and lead off, but only after the pitch has crossed the plate. Players cannot steal home or first base on a dropped third strike. A side of an inning is complete when either the defensive team gets three outs or the offensive team scores four runs, whichever comes first.
