AYRA National League - Fall 2010

The National League is AYRA's next step in the progression of playing more competitive baseball. It is specifically designed to get players starting to think of the "why" - why do you vary pitch location, why is hitting behind the runner important, why do infielders play at different depths depending on the game situation, etc. Fundamentals, as always, are stressed, but many advanced skills are also introduced and practiced. Children aged 11 and 12 years old may participate in this league.

A player participating in the National League can expect to be on a team that numbers 10 to 12 players. This is the first league where players can lead off a base before a pitch is made. Players can also steal at any time, they do not have to wait for the pitch to cross the plate. This is also the first league where players can steal home and advance to first on a dropped third strike. A side of an inning is complete when either the defensive team gets three outs or the offensive team scores four runs, whichever comes first.
