The American League is AYRA's high school baseball prep league. It is specifically designed to get players ready for the potential of playing on a high school baseball team. Children aged 13 and 14 years old may participate in this league.
A player participating in the American League can expect to be on a team that numbers 10 to 12 players. This is the league where everything a baseball player has learned up to this point is put to use in a well-rounded game. A side of an inning is complete when either the defensive team gets three outs or the offensive team scores four runs, whichever comes first.
In addition, the American League teams participate in the Howard County Baseball Alliance. The Alliance is an association of multiple baseball organizations located in Howard County. Teams from the different organizations play each other throughout the season. This allows for a broader experience in opposing teams.
