Welcome to the Official home of AYRA Baseball!
July 1, 2009
Registration for the Fall 2009 Season is officially OPEN! and extends through Saturday, August 15. Please register your players as soon as possible so we have good numbers to plan with for the fall season. Registration is completed from the Registration Page.
Although AYRA recommends the use of AYRA provided safety equipment (batting helmets and catchers gear), we recognize the desire of some parents to provide their own equipment to mitigate the risk of the spread of communicable diseases. AYRA now permits the use of personally supplied safety equipment starting with the Fall 2009 season provided the equipment meets NOCSAE (National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment) Standards.
NOCSAE is the governing body for setting safety standards for athletic equipment manufacturers. Equipment that meets these standards will have a stamp on it that states "Meets NOCSAE Standard". Parents providing personal safety equipment for their child(ren) must physically show the player's coach that the equipment meets the NOCSAE standards before that equipment can be used at any practice, game, or AYRA event.
It is the PARENT'S and PLAYER'S responsibility to properly maintain and regularly inspect their personally supplied safety equipment. Additionally, it is the PARENT'S and PLAYER'S responsibility to ensure that no other player uses their personally supplied safety equipment. Sharing personally supplied safety equipment is NOT permitted.

Kids interested in playing some baseball throughout the summer? Well, AYRA is hosting summer clinics and pickup games for all players age 5 - 18.
The clinics will begin Thursday, July 8 and run every Thursday through August 20. Start time is 6:00 PM at Hammond Middle School Field #1. Each week we will cover a specific skill for the first 20 - 30 minutes of the session. After that we will pick up teams and just play baseball!
All players that played for AYRA in the spring of 2009 just have to show up and play, no other registration or fees are required. If your player did not play for AYRA this past spring, please show up at the clinic, sign a waiver form, and pay a small fee of $10 per player to cover the program's expenses. It's that simple!
All skills and games will be geared appropriately to the ages of the players that are present. Be sure to bring a glove and all players MUST WEAR A CUP!

Thank you to all those who participated in the 1st Annual Daniel Byrd Open Golf Tournament held on Saturday, May 30th, 2009. We had 74 golfers for the tournament! The day was a HUGE success! With all the fantastic feedback we got we are definitely going to be hosting this event again next year!
The foursome of Curt Bathras, Kurt Knedeisen, Bruce Greer, and Glen Morton won the tournament with a score of 9 under par. They beat the second place foursome of Mike Hewitt, Doug Campbell, Paul Danielson, and Charles White, who also had a score of 9 under par, in a "throw and putt" tie-breaker on the 18th green! An exciting finish to a wonderful day!
Our two Closest to the Pin winners are Glen Morton and Kurt Knedeisen. The winner of a portion of the proceeds collected for mulligans is Diane Denig. The door prize winners are Marc Denne, Jason McDuffie, and Paul Yodzis. You will all be contacted shortly about collecting your prizes.
We'd also like to extend special thanks to the Byrd family for all of their support, all of our sponsors that purchased teebox signs, and last, but certainly not least, Jim Bovard who did an amazing job pulling this tournament together!
